The various medical inventions that mean I’m relatively unlikely to die of an infection from a little cut, contract a deadly plague, and can actually do something about my allergies and my migraine headaches.
1) The internet. Having an instant connection to the collective knowledge of the whole world is such an incredible resource and is driving a lot of our current advances.
2) To be able to make fire reliably from scratch. Arguably the single biggest turning point in history.
3) Farming. The ability to reliably produce food, stopped us from having to roam around looking for fresh sources of food.
4) Electricity generation. Without it our world would be very different.
