I get to work with and collect data from human beings! It’s actually quite nice to be able to explain to your research participants what you are trying to find out. You don’t get that if you work with animals, plants, rocks or chemicals.
I get to stimulate people’s brains! It seems so normal to me now, because I do it every day, but it is completely bizarre when you stop to think about it. I love when I first put the stimulating coil on peoples heads, just over the area that controls hand and arm movements, and watch their faces as I stimulate and their hand moves completely involuntarily. It’s a strange sort of glee, often followed by “ooh that’s so weird”
