      Definitely. Doing research can be very frustrating: sometimes things just don’t work and you have no idea why. Sometimes you spent months of working on a project only to realise that you’ve forgotten to consider something crucial…and in the worst case you might need to start again. Or you try to publish your work or try to find funding and you just keep on getting rejected over and over again. These are some of the tougher aspects of being an academic. On the upside: I’ve been doing research for quite a few years now, all of these things have happened to me (repeatedly). Despite that I still believe that the good stuff outweighs the annoying bits! I wouldn’t want to do anything else, really!
